Author Guidelines

Al-MUZARA’AH (Journal of Islamic Economics) is a collaborative journal of the Department of Islamic Economics, IPB University with the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economist (IAEI). The aim of the journal is to communicate and as the media of academic socialization by providing a platform for publication of research in the fields of Islamic economics, Islamic finance, Islamic microfinance, Islamic banking, Islamic insurance, Islamic management, Islamic agriculture and environment, halal industry, Islamic social finance and poverty alleviation, Islamic law and sharia issues in economics and finance, Islamic securitization and sukuk, Islamic capital market, Islamic accounting, Islamic development economics, and other topics related to this area.

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS OF AL-MUZARA'AH

General Requirement

• Manuscript must be in original version, has not been published previously in any scientific journal. If the paper has been published in other scientific journal or any unethical behaviors have been found (refer to Publication Ethics), the author(s) cannot publish the paper on this journal for three consecutive editions.
• Manuscript must be in the line of research topics (see Aim and Scope).
• Manuscript should be written in English.
• Manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word 2003.
• All manuscript should be typed on A4 paper and between 15 to 25 pages.
• Margins (left, right, top, and  bottom) should be normal (2.54 cm).
• Author should not identify themselves directly or indirectly in the manuscript (except between the title and the abstract).

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

• The manuscript is written in 11pt size of Times New Roman, 1 space, 12pt space to the next paragraph. 
• The manuscript consists of title, the name(s) of author(s) and affiliation, introduction, methods, result and discussion, conclusion, and references.
• The chapter title is written in 12pt size of Times New Roman, bold, 18pt space to the previous paragraph, and 12pt space to the next paragraph or to the title of subchapter.
• The subchapter's title is written in 11pt size of Times New Roman, bold, 12pt space to the previous paragraph, and 6pt to the next paragraph.

Title

• Title should be written in English). Title uses Times New Roman, 12pt size, bold, and capitalize each words.
• Title includes the author(s) name and affiliation. The author(s) name uses Times New Roman, 11pt size, and bold. The affiliation uses Times New Roman with 10pt size.
• The space between the title and author(s) name is double-space, author(s) name and affiliation is double-space, and one-space between affilitaion.

Abstract and Keywords

• Abstracts and keywords should be written in two language (English and Indonesia).
• Abstracts use Times New Roman and 10pt size. It is one spacing between lines and 12pt spacing for the new heading. Left and right indent 0.5 cm. Maximum length is 200 words.
• Keywords use Times New Roman and 10pt size, italic, lower case, maximum five keywords that reflect the content of the article. Keywords should be referred to JEL Classification System/JEL Codes Guide.

Mathematics Form

• Mathematics form should be numbered, align text right, and indent 0.5 cm from left side.

Graphic and Table

• Graphic and table should be in center and numbered.
• The title of the graphic and table should be lower case style and in the center of the graphic and table if it just a line or align right with the graphic or table if it’s more than one.

References

• References should conform to the APA Referencing Style.
• 80% of the references should be primary literature (journal and proceeding) in the last ten years.
• We suggest authors to use reference management software like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc., to prepare citations and the list of references.

Content of The Manuscript

1. Title. The title should be brief, short, clear, and informative which reflects the article content. The length of the title maximum 15 words. Each word of the title should be started with capitalized letter.
2. Author’s name(s) and institutions. The author’s name(s) should be accompanied by the author’s institutions, affiliation address and email addresses, without any academic titles and/or job title.
3. Abstract. The abstract should be maximum 250 words. Abstract contains clear statement of the background of the study, the purpose of the study, method, result, and implication, with no references cited.
4. Keywords should be maximum five phrases. Keywords should be referred to JEL Classification System.
5. Introduction. The introduction describes the rationale of the research, problem statement, purposes of study, the novelty, and hyphotesis.
6. Literature Review. This section may include the theoritical framework and some previous studies that have been conducted.
7. Methods includes a) the types and sources of data that describes data and information collection techniques, and b) data analysis method.
8. Result and Discussion. The result presents the empirical findings of the research conducted, while the discussion discuses the finding obtained. Discussion should show relevance between the results and the field of investigation and/or hypotheses.
9. Conclusions should be written briefly in single paragraph, but reflects results obtained. Implication of results should be added stating what the findings of this research and imply for Islamic economic and finance.
10. References. This section lists only the papers, books, or other types of publications referred in the manuscript. References should be the last 10 year publication with minimum 80% of primary literature (journal and proceeding). References should be listed alphabetically by the author(s) last name(s) and the year of publication. We suggest authors to use reference management software like EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, etc., to prepare citations and the list of references.

Guideline for Online Submission

New users should first register as Author. New users should fulfil the form as detail as possible where the star marked form must be entered. After all form textbox was filled, then clicks on “Register” button to proceed the registration.  Returning users may log in using their registered username and password.

Therefore, Author is brought to online author submission interface where Author should click on “Make a New Submission”. In the Make a Submission section, please fill the Title and please check-mark on the Submission Checklist and on the Privacy Consent. Then click on “Begin Submission: to go to step one of the five step submission process”. The following are five steps in online submission process:

1. Step 1 – Enter the Submission Details: Author(s) must fill the textbox of paper abstract and then click continue.
2. Step 2 – Upload the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click ‘Add File’, then choose the manuscript document file to be submitted, then click Upload button. The next step is choose ‘Article Text’ from the question of ‘What kind of file is this?’and then click continue.
3. Step 3 – Add the Contributor: In this step, add details for all of the contributors to this submission (Click ‘Add Contributor’). Contributors added here will be sent an email confirmation of the submission, as well as a copy of all editorial decisions recorded against this submission. If a contributor can not be contacted by email, because they must remain anonymous or do not have an email account, please do not enter a fake email address. You can add information about this contributor in a message to the editor at a later step in the submission process.
4. Step 4 – Enter Comments for the Editor: This is optional step (not mandatory). Add any information that you think our editorial staff should know when evaluating your submission.
5. Step 5 – Confirm the Submission (Review and Submit): Review the information you have entered before you complete your submission. You can change any of the details displayed here by clicking the edit button at the top of each section. Once you complete your submission, a member of our editorial team will be assigned to review it. Please ensure the details you have entered here are as accurate as possible. Then please check-mark on Copyright Confirmation.

After this submission, Author(s) who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Author(s) are able to track their submission status at anytime by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes status of manuscript review and editorial process.
