Article types:

Acta VETERINARIA Indonesiana (Acta Vet. Indones.) accepts and publishes articles in the form of research, reviews, case studies and brief communications:

1. The research article is a comprehensive analysis of a research activity or research section that includes a thorough investigation of issues and research or observations that adhere to scientific principles, such as appropriate statistical analysis and experimental design. The study should meet the bioethics aspects of animal research and welfare. Research texts that must adhere to rigorous scientific standards and statistical analysis have historically included epidemiological studies and data analyses.
2. The review article is a thorough, critical-analytical literature review that offers up-to-date information on a subject or offers prospective perspectives on it. The review article should present all material from earlier research as facts or statistics, analyze and critically evaluate the author's findings, and condense the information into a viewpoint appropriate for future development. The authors of review articles are preferred over those without experience in their specific fields, as evidenced by contributions such as published policies or writings. If judged necessary, teaching review articles on specific subjects is still permissible.
3. The case study article is a report in the clinical, pathological, or other domains that is judged important enough to be published but insufficient to be written as a research paper. Priority is given to case studies that offer fresh insights or could add to the body of existing material.

Author Guidelines:

1. Manuscripts submitted to Acta VETERINARIA Indonesiana (Acta Vet. Indones.) must be original works that have not been previously published in print or online journals and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. However, publication in the form of abstracts or seminar proceedings with limited distribution is permitted. All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and scientifically sound English language.
2. All manuscripts submitted to Acta VETERINARIA Indonesiana (Acta Vet. Indones.) must adhere strictly to the official Acta Vet. Indones. Template 2026 and be prepared in MS Word format (. doc or .docx). The manuscript should be formatted on A4 paper with 2.5 cm margins on all sides, and the font and layout must fully comply with the template specifications, using Candara font as provided. Page numbers must be included throughout the manuscript. Manuscripts must be written entirely in English, with a total word count of approximately 3,500–4,000. Submissions that do not meet these formatting and structural requirements will be returned to the authors before peer review.
3. The manuscript must be organised in the following order: Title Page, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Conflict of Interest, Author Contribution, Acknowledgement, References, followed by Tables and Figures placed on separate pages.

• The Title Page must include a concise and informative title consisting of 10–20 words and written in English. The title should clearly reflect the content of the study and avoid generic expressions such as “Study on…,” “Observation of…,” “Effect of…,” or similar phrases. The full names of all authors must be written without academic titles, followed by their complete institutional affiliations (Department/Division/Laboratory, Institution or University, Country). Each author must provide their ORCID ID. If the authors are affiliated with different institutions, Arabic superscript numbers must be used to indicate the affiliations. The corresponding author must be clearly identified and must provide an active email address.
• The Abstract must be written in English in a structured format consisting of Background, Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, with a total length of 230–250 words. The abstract should concisely summarise the purpose, methodology, principal findings, and main conclusions of the study. This must be followed by 3–5 keywords arranged according to their importance.
• The Introduction should present the scientific background, relevant and recent literature, research gap, problem formulation, and objectives of the study.
• The Materials and Methods section must clearly describe the experimental design, materials, experimental animals (if applicable), research procedures, and statistical analyses used in the study. The description must be sufficiently detailed to allow for reproducibility. All materials or commercial products must be identified by their generic names, followed by the company name and country of origin (the catalogue number may be included when relevant). Studies involving animals must comply with recognised animal welfare standards and include the ethical approval number issued by the appropriate institutional review board.
• The Results and Discussion must be presented in one combined section. All research findings should be clearly described and supported by tables and figures. The text should highlight the essential findings without duplicating the data already presented in the tables or figures. The discussion must provide a scientific interpretation and critical analysis of the results by comparing them with previous studies, emphasising their significance, contribution, and novelty. Supplementary materials, such as related videos or additional data, may be submitted for online publication.
• The Conclusion must be written as a concise paragraph summarising the main findings and directly addressing the research objectives. It should not be presented as a separate subtitle.
• The Conflict of Interest statement must be included, declaring whether any conflicts of interest exist. The authors must explicitly state that there is no conflict of interest, if applicable.
• The Author Contributions section must clearly describe the specific contributions of each author.
• The Acknowledgement section should recognise individuals or institutions that provided significant support to the research, such as funding agencies, providers of materials, facilities, or technical assistance, but not members of the author team.
• The References section must include all sources cited in the manuscript and be arranged alphabetically according to the journal’s reference style. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley or Zotero to ensure accuracy and consistency. Tables and Figures must be numbered consecutively and placed on separate pages after the References section, each accompanied by a clear title or caption.

4. Figure and table captions

Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively using the format Table.1, Table.2, Figure.1, Figure.2, and must be cited explicitly in the main text in numerical order. All tables and figures must be placed on separate pages after the References section and must include a clear and concise title or caption. Data presented in tables and figures should not be duplicated in the text, and figures must be submitted in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi, JPEG format), with graphs provided in an editable format (e.g., MS Excel).

5. Reference Style and Citation Format

For easier reference management, you may consider using Mendeley with the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition citation style.

Follow these writing guidelines when preparing references manually:

to reference the literature in the manuscript is as follows:

• Single name: (Prasetyaningtyas, 2005)
• Two name: (Garner & Hafez, 2000)
• More than two name: (Adnyane et al., 2011)
• More than two libraries are separated by semicolons and sorted by year: (Prasetyaningtyas, 2005; Adnyane et al., 2011)
• Two names and the same year: (Adnyane et al., 2011, 2011a)

The bibliography/references consists of at least 80% of journals (last 10 years), arranged in alphabetical order of the author in the following order: author name, year, title, journal name (full written), volume, and page. Examples of writing journals, books and online resources as follows:

6. Ethical Standards and Conflict of Interest

Studies involving animals must comply with recognized animal welfare standards and include an ethical approval number from the appropriate institutional committee. Authors must declare any potential conflict of interest. If none exists, the following statement must be included:
“The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest.”

7. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the official OJS submission system. Authors are required to upload the manuscript file, cover letter, and all required supporting documents, including ethical approval (if applicable). The editorial office will notify authors regarding manuscript processing within seven (7) days after submission.
